Pupil Development Grant (PDG)

The pupil development grant (PDG) is allocated to schools with pupils who come from low income families and are currently known to be eligible for free school meals (e-FSM) and pupils who have been looked after continuously for more than six months (LAC).

Schools are expected to make the best use of this funding to implement sustainable strategies that will quickly bring about changes for learners eligible for free school meals or those who are LAC.

As a school, we have identified 3 core areas to be targeted when spending the grant allocated to us, which is in line with Welsh Government guidance. These core areas have been sub-divdied into 5 key focus areas that coincide with research carried out by the Education Endowment Foundation, who identify the most effective ways of closing the gap in attainment of learners.

These areas include (but are not limited to):

  1. Learning and Teaching: - Improving Attainment (A),
  2. Community Schools:- Parental Engagement (PE), Community Links (C)
  3. Wider Strategies:- Social and Emotional Learning (S), Enrichment and Experience (E)

At Bedlinog Community Primary School we have a comprehensive plan, agreed and monitored by the Central South Consortia to promote progress and remove barriers to learning for students eligible for this funding.

Full details of our PDG plan can be found in the document below.
