🌐 E‑Safety Week: Learning to Stay SMART Online

This week in school it's E‑Safety Week, helping children understand how to stay safe, confident, and responsible when using the internet. We’ll be exploring the SMART rules each day to build their awareness step by step.

Today’s focus is the letter S – Safe.

We’ll be talking to the children about the importance of keeping personal information private online. This includes things like their full name, address, school name, passwords, and photos. We’re encouraging them to think carefully before sharing anything and to always check with a trusted adult if they’re unsure.

Supporting Parents With E‑Safety: Keeping Children Safe Online

As a school, we know how quickly technology evolves. New apps, games, and online trends appear almost overnight, and it can be challenging for parents and grandparents to stay up to date with the latest online safety concerns. Keeping children safe online is a shared responsibility, and we want to ensure every family feels confident and informed.

To support our community, we have arranged a free e‑safety awareness session here at the school on Monday 2nd February, 14:00 - 15:30. This session is designed specifically for parents and grandparents, offering practical guidance, up‑to‑date information, and simple strategies to help keep children safe while using technology both at home and in school.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 What to expect:

  • Clear, accessible advice on current online risks

  • Tips for setting boundaries and having conversations about online behaviour

  • Guidance on privacy, security, and age‑appropriate use

  • A chance to ask questions and build confidence in supporting your child

Upcoming Events

This week we are focusing on E‑Safety, helping pupils to understand how to stay safe, responsible, and confident when using the internet and digital technologies.

Throughout the week, children will take part in age‑appropriate activities and discussions covering:

  • How to protect personal information online.

  • The importance of respectful communication and positive digital relationships.

  • Recognising and responding to unsafe or inappropriate content.

  • Building healthy habits around screen time and online use.

E‑Safety Week is an important opportunity to equip pupils with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the online world safely. By working together with families, we aim to ensure that every child can enjoy the benefits of technology while staying protected and making good choices online.

We warmly invite you to attend our Spring Term Parents’ Evenings, where you will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s class teacher to discuss their progress, achievements, and next steps in learning.

These evenings are an important chance to celebrate successes, share how your child is developing across the curriculum, and strengthen the partnership between home and school.

Appointments will be scheduled to ensure that every family has dedicated time with their teacher. Further details on booking will be shared shortly.

February 9, 2026 Parents Evening

We are pleased to again be running 'Brews and Views', a relaxed and friendly opportunity for parents and carers to come together over a cup of tea or coffee. These informal sessions provide a welcoming space to share ideas, ask questions, and discuss school life with staff and other families.

Brews and Views is designed to strengthen our home–school partnership by giving parents a voice in shaping the school community. Whether you’d like to raise a suggestion, learn more about upcoming initiatives, or simply enjoy a chat, everyone is welcome.

February 12, 2026 Brews & Views

This February, we will be joining schools across the UK in celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week (23rd–27th February). The national theme for 2025 is “Know Yourself, Grow Yourself”, which encourages children to develop self‑awareness, recognise their strengths, and build resilience for the future.

What It’s About

  • Self‑awareness: Helping pupils understand their emotions, thoughts, and behaviours.

  • Resilience: Encouraging children to see challenges as opportunities to grow.

  • Confidence: Supporting pupils to celebrate their individuality and achievements.

  • Wellbeing: Promoting positive mental health through activities, discussions, and creative expression

This week is a chance for our whole school community to reflect on the importance of mental health and to empower children to grow into confident, resilient individuals.

E-SAFETY WEEK 2026

This week, our school is shining a spotlight on E‑Safety Week, a dedicated time to help our pupils build the knowledge and confidence they need to navigate the online world safely and responsibly. Throughout the week, learners will be taking part in activities, discussions, and challenges that explore how to stay SMART online — a simple but powerful set of rules designed to keep everyone safe while using the internet.

Our aim is to empower pupils to make thoughtful choices, recognise risks, and feel confident speaking up when something doesn’t feel right. We’re proud to be helping our learners become responsible digital citizens who can enjoy the online world safely and positively. Let’s make this E‑Safety Week a meaningful one — and remember to stay SMART every time you go online.
